Name: Richard Tamborelli Location: Coventry, RI 02816 Gender: Male Age: 41 Occupation: Applications manager
About:
Life long car guy. I remember being a kid in the back seat of my moms car identifying all types of cars that rolled by or we passed. Granted that was back in the 70's! Not as many as types of cars rolling around back then, but plenty of style. I appreciate the advances in the technology of vehicles today. Just stil stuck on the roaring engines and horsepower. The '79 Trans Am is not a daily driver. Not in perfect condition either. Guesing a 10 footer is a best description. I tinker but am not very mechanically inclined. I will try anything and ususlly get it right, eventually! In a brief nutshell story, I bought the car because of my father. For years he spoke of his frst car, a '34 Ford. How he would spin tales of the fun and the times he had in that car. If I recall correctly he said he paid thirty dollars for the car and my grandmother only let him buy it because the seller promised her he would not get it to run. Well he did! So dad was at retirement age and talking about finding a '34 to play with. He decided to work an extra few years, but passed away before he ever actually bought one. I could not let that be me! My first car was a 1975 Ford LTD with over 100,000 miles and a dent or ding on every side of the car. Well I spied a '71 Firebird just a sitting around a driveway, made an offer and drove away. Never to be the same again! The '71 was a 6 cylinder with the gear selector on the column. However it had the Formula hood scoops, side vents, fat tires and a spoiler. It looked like so much more than it was. I scratched and saved to paint her, added a center console and kept her neat and tidy for over 3 years and 45,000 miles! I got her with 80,000 sold her with 125,000 +/-. Still rans strong, but I needed something newer, after all I was a cool guy with a job and had to have an '86 Camaro! You know while wearing my driving gloves and Members Only jacket!!! On and on the cars go mostly Firebirds and Camaros. Then on to Hondas, compacts and pick-ups, so you can see I am married with children. The '79 Trans Am brought me back to my youth. Mostly rolling around town, little league baseball games, I coach (sort of) and ice cream runs. I belong to the Little Rhody Pontiac car club. http://www.littlerhodypontiac.com/ Great gouup of guys and gals. We have a few car shows and do chairty benefits for The Tommorrow Fund, for children with cancer. Personally I am a man of dignity and respect. I firmly believe that opponents are people who share the same passion and enjoy the challenge of competition. Nothing should be SO personal to diminish a persons integrity or respect. Competition is fun, fact is there are usually more loosers than winners. The competition is the fun, winning is the reward. Unique to Bull Run is you to have the MOST fun when you win!!!! Well to sum up things: I love the show! I am sure you hear that alot, but it needs to be said. Each leg, each challenege just looks like so much fun! There is not much on television to look forward to, this show is a MUST SEE, EVERY WEEK! Have you though of regional challenges? Winners progress to a "Ultimate Bull Run". Frankly, I am hoping to get in any way possible!
Mission Statement:
To win! Take home the cash prize! Really though to see the country and put the 30 year old beast through some paces. She is not a trailer queen by any stretch, but really only makes ice cream runs in-town for the most part. I view this rally as a test of driver skills, abilities, morals, forethought and integrity. A driver lacking in any of these skills will not survive. To succeed is a victory of man and machine.
About My Team:
Steve and I are co-workers. We work at an Art and As we were watching and critiquing season one we decided to throw our hat in the ring for season two! Well neither paid too much attention to detail and we missed out on entering. I set up this account just after the announcement that season 2 would be airing in February. Now we have a list of work to be done on the car to keep it road (challenge) worthy as well as strategies for keeping the game. Each week’s episode leads to a whole new set of items to bring along (extra keys!) as well as proper alliance management strategies. After all who you ally with can be critical! Steve appears, to me at least, to be a bit more adventurous than me. Guess married with children calms some of the crazy in a man? Not sure what our odds are of being chosen, but you have to stand up to be counted. So here we are! Coupla good guys, looking to have some fun driving through an amazing country in a iconic car just for the hellva it!

My Biggest Strength:
I guess my biggest strength is the fact I try not to take things toooo seriously. Some may question this, guess it is ALWAYS true. I do try to see things for what they are. Just because there is something I do not know, or do, or agree with does not mean it is wrong. Just wrong for me. Heck, if you want to then good for you. Do not try to convince me your right and I will not try to convince you you’re wrong. Why would you? I can laugh at myself; I know I am a bit of a geek in many ways. In fact I have broken my car several times trying burn the wheels to impress my son! Lessons learned! I can’t imagine what happened to that teenage kid that could drive the wheel off anything that had an engine. He is in there somewhere. Thinking a great road rally will breathe some lie into him! Have to say I have developed a sense of adaptability. Guess I have learned that not all things go as planned. It is sometimes best to have fewer plans and take things as they come. Can’t be bothered worrying about tomorrow when we have not gotten through today yet!
