Newbie (50 - 750 points)

Name: Craig Ricks
Location: Temple, TX 76534
Gender: Male
Age: 39
Occupation: Iron Worker

About:

I'm a father and husband.  I have one 5yr old son.  I work as a Union Ironworker, for those that don't know what that is I build big buildings.  I enjoy gaming,  cars, and spending time w/ my family.

Our first car build was a 72'  Monte Carlo SS with a 402ci,  4 speed Muncey Rock Crusher, Dana 60 rear, w/ duel Holley 650s.  We then took an Old Duster and slapped a modified 440 Mag in it (what a screamer).  We've also build some old Volkswagon off-road mods.  Last vehicle I modified was a 97' F-250 HD.  I blew the #4 Cyl.  not long after paying $1000 for it so instead of junking it I pulled the motor apart bored it 60 over added a mild cam, larger injectors, fuel rail, and throttle body.  Then I built a custom duel CAI, had the upper and lower plenum and heads extrude honed and drove it to Florida for a test run.  Needless to say the motor was great but the old trans took a dump, so 4 grand on a trans. and the drive train is complete.  I'm still driving that truck btw.  I'm a news junkie also, so it won't suprise some folks that I'm writing a book, look for "Blue Collar Logic"  on your bookstore shelves late this year.

As far as racing experience,  we have competed in many off-road races and rallies.  I spent two years racing Mazda Miata Pro-Stock class in SCCA and did well for the first year and a half,  I had to stop when big sponsors started rolling in and made it hard to compete w/ the big money.

Mission Statement:

As a team we intend to stay positive.  We want to concentrate on navigation, fuel consumption, and time management.   We want to win the race and make long term friendships.  We also want to show that although they probably will no longer make H3s it is the greatest off road and one of the greatest all around SUVs ever made.

About My Team:

My brother and I spend our youth fighting w/ each other but we've grown a lot since then.  We have built cars, raced cars, modified cars/trucks and pretty much consider ourselves car guys.  We spent most of our youth living close to a local dragstrip so we have always been around fast cars.  Like most fellows we have a passion for vehicles and engines.  We have both built engines and cars/trucks and will probably  build more.  We both also have a great deal of experience in driving them fast and hard.

Shaun was working on a project and he might have bumped something. I know he's working on it. Shouldn't be to long before he has it back up. -Aaron

So Craig, how are the H3s? Seems like they would be more off-roadable than the H2.

My Biggest Strength:

We are brothers so we have many years of working together w/ generaly good results, we do occasionaly argue but we do well most of the time.  We have a vehicle that will soon be producing over 300 hp and will hopefully have a gas/hydrogen modification w/ supercharger very  soon so horsepower + fuel mileage + all wheel drive = fun/win.  We have taken the hummer through some pretty tough courses in really terrific places (see Aquastecha, Mexico photos)
