Name: William Soto
Location: Out in the garage. in the middle of BFE NM, -- 88nonyabeezwax
Gender: Male
Age: 33
Occupation: USAF / VW Tuner /Automechanic

About:

USAF born and breed. I have driven any/everything with wheels, tracks, skis on it (some without) since i was a pup. (got the scares to prove it) I have been working on every type of vehicle under the sun for over 15 years. My co driver Matt is a big off roader. He belives (there is  no REPLACEMENT for DISPLACEMENT). he also has driven the wheels off most of the vehicles he rides.

I specialize in Water Cooled 1.8t 16v VW engines.  (but i know my way around most engine bays) Matt likes V-8 chevys, but heis a fully certified Master Tech from Wyotech. I joined the A/F 13 years ago with hopes to return to germany after bought my first VW. to my diapointment Germans were way more expencive and restrictive than the US. When i returned i met Matt. he was a young kid and i had to teach him a thing or 3 about what VW was all about. (dusted my supervisors 98 camaro with my 91 DUB)

My cars have never Looked the best (Matts Look really nice) only because im not a body or paint man by any means (and i keep crashing), but i can get by, making something look good from afar. My co-driver on the other hand is better at making things look pretty. He has way mor patience than i do for that kind of stuff.

i tried to get us on the 2nd season seeing as how it conviniently went through my town. but i was in Hawaii on vacation. OOPs. My co-driver and i have been freinds for about 10 years. unfortunatley he left me here and moved on to another state. (ASS) so we keep in touch. we call each otehr for advice on what we cant figure out for ourselves. He is also a huge gear head. He can drive almost as well as i can on the streetbut when it comes to off road. well just check out my pics.(but he deffinatly rides bikes better than i.)

Figured it would add more.

I appriciate beauty in all its forms. I have never been one to disrepect something because its different. There are no Bad ideas.

Mission Statement:

Its like taking a poop. Get in do your business, and get out with the least amount of crap on you as possible.

N.M. is not Hell! (But you can see it from Here)

About My Team:

What is there to know other than we roll in WHATEVER- WHENEVER- WHEREVER. NUFF SAID! (give us a car and we will drive it to the MAX!!!)

Between Matt and i we have about 5 member of our team 2001 VW, 1982 ELCamino, and the 2005 Dodge Ram Cummins Deisel and us. It really just depends on which one you want us to bring.

With the 2 of us we can build or fix just about anything.

He is a college edjucated smarty pants and i am all self taught A/F brat. ( I guess that makes me the dumb one.+ i cant spell:)

Well at least it's not crabs. Unless they are fire ants.

I'd be happy to share the tune.. But we have very different engines. Mine is a VP truck, your buddy's is a CR truck. But, they make the Smarty REVO for both. If he doesn't have one, he should get-r-done. ;)

Good to hear that your ride is done. I am working on the video as I type. Should be done in a week or so. Can't wait to unveil it.

Sounds like the joke my husband played on me - I wake up in the pass seat of my car, and see that my baby is headed directly for a light post!!! After a ton of screaming, I told him thanks for avoiding it! (Pretty icy roads, and we were taking a corner)The worst part of that is that I spilled my coffee :(
By akundert, 04/17/09 - 12:03

Thanks man, the looks and handling originally made me want the car. BTW - I really like the early '90's VW style.

Yeah I will. I'm hoping to kinda make a blog post for each day I actually put real work into it.
By Frenchie, 04/02/09 - 20:59

Ya it does sting a little but it is the life blood of a Air-cooled motor. If your running a turbo I would ad some extra. Is your Turbo Water cooled as well? Of course mine isn't. HAHA

MAN i Hate Computers.

Keeping the little monster cool is easy. Added a 4 quart oil sump and another quart in the external filter. So that temp creep is not really an issue.

Ah I thought you meant the Kaiser. For now it's going to be a restoration but not in the sense of making it look exactly like it did when it left the factory. It has its original flathead 6 which turns fine. The oil was clear, like brand new, and the anti-freeze in the leaking radiator looked new too. This car had been sitting in the elements for at least 5 years before we picked it up. So that stuff looks really good considering. We want to see if it starts next. Electrical needs doing, brakes, suspension and the floor pan was kinda spotty. This thing has a double door hatch on the back.
By Frenchie, 04/01/09 - 22:08

I'm sorry lol but I'm not sure what you were making a comment about.
By Frenchie, 04/01/09 - 18:25

The hood is functional, it really helps vent out the heat. Post up some pics once you get the new hood on!
By Team DSM, 03/28/09 - 19:59

Nice Dub, I bet you got really upset when it got banged up. I liked the custom wheels though.

I know Matt :) My boyfriend owns a 3000GT/Stealth shop here in PA, we've dealt with Matt quite a lot over the years. My boyfriend and him know each other from way back.

Team Setup:
Team: Team Wolfsburg
My Role: Driver
My Team Member: Matt Reitman

My Biggest Strength:

Navigation. My co-driver and i have driven all over the United states and back a number of times, alone! with no help for direction aside from a map and some coffee. not much to say other than we should be able to find almost anything.

Driving. We have both been into racing for quite awhile. whether it was making v8's or 8v's go faster we can drive most of the cars we sit in to there max. Although i tend to push them beyond, but thats another story. Dirt, Pavment, Gravel (fun), or concrete we can do it. although nerves do get involved we can keep composure under pressure. the military teaches you that.
