My team as rookies to the rallying world, won the elusive 2008 Dustball 1000 mile Rally crown, and the Willie Williams Spirit of the Dustball Award, the overall winner of the Dustball 1000 Rally. Matt is a International Kart Federation Championship Winnig Kart Driver in 2 cycle dirt and pavement speedway, shifter karts and road racing, He has participated INEX Legends Regional racing, Late Model Stock Cars And just about anything with wheels and a motor. More recently, Matt was the Co-Driver for the Team MMS #3 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster in the 2009 Bullrun Rally Launch Day in NYC. Matt is passionate about road rallying as it is the purest form of motorsport that survives. Road Rallies can be some of the most physical and mentally challenging events out there. Ever since the invention of the automobile, men and women have had the urge to rally and we want to keep that spirit going as a tean. We live for the road and for rallying of all types. I share the appreciation for those who have rallied before and welcome those who come after. Our team is a fan of the show and are sure never to miss an episode. We love to hear from you, be sure to send us a PM or email to teamnewmexexpress@gmail.com
Mission Statement:
Out team mission is: Driving efficiently, smoothly, and smart will lead to a winning situation every time out. Our team mission is to keep on rallying as long as we can learn and have fun. Our mission is also to share the sport of rallying with others and keep the tradition of open road rallies alive as it is a dying sport. We reached a big goal as a team by participating in this year's Bullrun Rally launch day, and still have more goals to acheive. We want to rally around the world. We will continue to work hard until we reach those goals and complete our mission. We are a technical team and never underestimate how much technology can help us be successful and give us an advantage over other teams. Educating the public about rallying is important. We often have to dispell rumours or misunderstanding about the sport or rallying, and we take our particiaption seriously and safety is key!
About My Team:
To see what we are about, view our Bullrun Audition Video!! http://www.vimeo.com/4640471 and our team website http://www.teamnewmexexpress.com Our team brings proven competition and enthusiasm to any road rally entry list, We are always in it to win it, and we work hard to be a successful team and have fun at the same time. We won the 2008 Dustball 1000 Rally and won the 2008 Willie Williams Spirit of the Dustball, overall winning team. Willie Wiliams was a El Paso, TX resident who participated in the Cannonball Run events of the late 1970's and was key in keeping this rallying spirit alive in the Southwest. We were runner up in the Gimmick Rally Championship and Spirit Awards for this years Dustball 1500 Rally, the first time ever a team was nominated for both big awards. We also attend numerous car shows, road tours, and karting and motorsports events in the Southwestern United States and beyound each year. We share our experiences with other whenever we can. Rallying is in our blood and we are always looking for a challenge as a tean. We blend new and old technology into our vehicle to help enhance our efforts and keep other teams on their toes. We have a fan base all our own and appreciate their help in getting us ready to rally. We are well read on the sport and can take criticism. Our team name, New Mex Express may seem catchy at first but was chosen to honor the spirit of the U.S. Express events held in the early 1980's and was the driving force behind many of today's road rallies and took its shape after the Cannonball Run events faded away. It also brings attention to our home state of New Mexico, which has some of the best roads for touring in the country and home to some of the most technical minds in the World. We are young in age, however have a lot of driving time under our belts. Our vehicle, the 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra was specifically choosen based on its legendary durability, consistency on track and race proven competitive spirit in its design. Many people relate to this car and we often get stopped on the road just to see what is under the hood and a "hey I haven't seen a 95; Cobra Before!. We have been able to walk away from many a traffic citation with a "i love this car" versus a ticket. This is a low production, #3004 of 3413 Cobra. We also love to take laps in our backup ride a 2002 AMG E55 Sedan to keep us sharp. Look for this mean machine on a road near you. We are good friends in and out of the car and share the spirit of competition and like to win! UPDATE! We would also like to welcome our newest team member, Berry Lowman, from Team Hall & Nass, due to a scheduling conflict that prevents our current co driver from filming, John Paul will not be able to make it this year on the drive (if we make it!). Upon learning this, we contacted our fiercest competitor on the rally circuit, Berry "Johnny Hall" Lowman from Team Hall and Nass from Henderson, NV. Knowing our love of the rally sport and of our determination to compete on the Bullrun, he has graciously agreed to lend his driving and navigation skills to the team. Knowing that I will now have Berry beside me on the show (if we make it!), takes a huge burden off my shoulders as he is an excellent navigator and driver as well, he runs in the silver state classic open road race every year in Nevada and drove the now imfamous hertz zhz on the 2009 DBR 1500. You can check out Berry's profile on bullrun here: http://www.bullrun.com/user/4681 and look for new videos and photos from him.

My Biggest Strength:
Singularly, the amount of seat time as a team in the car between rallies, great communication and in depth technical and technolgical preparation for each rally we participate is our strength as a team. We are not just two guys in a car, we are a team that understands what it takes to compete in over 4000 miles of competitive on the road driving. We share a diverse knowledge of our car and modern technology and the capabilities of the two help pay off over long distances with trouble free driving. Our competitive spirit is never dull and keeps us working hard to do better. We share our individual strengths to make our team a consistent contender for the win. Matt is a born driver and technology freak. Berry Lowman is my navagator and lover of complex systems (i.e. navigating) Berry also shares the same philosophy I have. We also have a great network of sponsors who help us rally year round and our knowledge of our fan base brings rallying to a whole new level which allows them to participate with us via social media, etc. Which is always to our advantage.
