2007 Montreal - Key West

For the first time, a Canadian city was chosen as the official start line for the most glamorous rally in the world. Old Town in Montreal served as the perfect launch point for the rally. The weather was great, and the crowds were large. On the grid in the fourth annual Bullrun rally were: Claus Ettensberger of CEC Wheels, driving a Techart Magnum (variant of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo,) Richard Rawlings driving with his buddy, Dennis Collins, in the Ferrari 550 Marinello, Justin Thompson in the Shelby GT-H Safety Car and Mike Musto in the angriest 1968 Dodge Charger on the planet. Other notabe cars this year were: The 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, numerous Ferrari F430’s, 599’s and 612’s, Team Darkcyd’s Lamborghini Murcielago and a Budget rental truck driven by two brits whose race-spec car was not allowed into Canada. The rally left Montreal in a fury of speed with Nicholas and Annabelle Frankl of Team Twins up front. The rally winded its way down the East Coast, stopping in: Boston, Atlantic City, Staunton, VA, Savannah, Orlando, Miami and finally Key West. Along the way the rally saw an incredible party hosted by Girls Gone Wild, multiple track events, a drifting demonstration by world drift champion, Chris, Cooke, speedboat rides and a lot of crazy adventures along the way. During the 2007 rally, Bullrunner, Jay Riecke bet Richard Rawlings that he couldn’t beat Brock Yates’ record from New York to LA. Rawlings and his co-driver, Dennis Collins, took on the challenge, and successfully set a new world record of 31:59. The Bullrun Navigator Award was claimed by the most competitive driver in Bullrun history, Claus Ettensberger and his co-driver, Joaquin Meija.

JVC Navigator Award.

1st Place Navigator Award
Claus Ettensberger, Team CEC. In his Techart Porsche Cayenne. Claus' rally plan was nothing short of rally blitzkreig..Der Kaiser as he is referred to also swapped his car out on the final leg for a powerboat (das boot..) for the final leg into Key West.

2nd Place Navigator Award
Team Riecke, Jared Riecke and Byron Burkhardt, Mercedes CL600 Rentech. After a solid 3rd place performance in '06 these two Bayou boys are fast becoming everyones favourites. There is nothing they won't do to gain one upmanship in Bullrun. Rent a DC6 and fly a plane, no problem. Have a $50,000 bet (and pay it..), no problem. Pay large amounts of money to the po-po, no problem. Also known as Riecke Bobby...

3rd Place Navigator Award
Team Audi, Adam Levinson and Wije. Driving their stealth Audi RS4 these 'newbies' to the rally in 07 from New York did rather well and were on their game all week. They do not like waiting for a route card...

Spirit of Bullrun Award
Team CBGM - Richard Rawlings and Dennis Collins, our two favourite Texans put in another virtuoso performance. At the start line in Montreal the took a bet from Mr Angry to see if they could beat the long standing New York to Los Angeles record....and Jared Riecke for $50,000... The promptly took on the challenge and drove 31 hours non stop to beat the old Cannonball record in Los Angeles. They shipped their car to Savannah, Georgia to rejoin the Bullrun and got on an airplane to fly back and joing the rally...Did we mention they also put their car on a DC6 plane from Miami to fly it to Key West too...??

Bullrun Awards:

BOM - Bullrun Order of Merit
British Idiots - Paul Waters and Shawn Taylor. They couldn't get their fully WRC Renault car into Canada so they rented a 10 ton U-Haul truck for the start of the rally. Once over the border they continued in the Renault until they broke down. What next? They hired a Crosffire each (full liability coverage) and drove them into the ground..

BOM - Bullrun Order of Merit
Oh Canada!. Our Canadian husband and and wife duo, Christine and Kevin Andrews are amongst the nicest two people you will meet and they know how to rally. Their full rally prepped Porsche 928 managed to catch fire on the freeway so they did what anyone who owns an investment bank would do in those circumstances - have your staff deliver you the Ferrari..brilliant.

CEC Sickets Wheels Award
Team Darkcyd Racing - Peter Kolb and Bulent Akaya - Mercedes CLK DTM. Two great guys hailing from Germany and Turkey respectively show the international falvour of Bullrun. We're not even sure if their car was street legal but we all loved it anyway!

Shelby Performance Award.
Team Twins - Nicholas and Annabelle Frankl, Corvette Z06. The only thing that makes Nick Frankl move quicker than being on a track is asking him to buy you a drink..once again another fine performance from Mr. Frankl..

Lotus Performance Award
Team 13, Michael Schwab and Jason Weiss, Ferrari 430. The 'Schwabster' was a 'newbie' to Bullrun but the guy can drive as much as his co-pilot can party...hard and long. Great track performance and was only hampered en-route by 3 flat tires...our advice, keep off the hard shoulder.
