Never before has Times Square seen so many Supercars. If one were to add up the value of all the cars present, it would have to be very close or just over $20 million.
Activity: Pocono Raceway Long Pond, Pennsylvania - The rain let up enough as Bullrunners entered the race track through Gate #5, which happened to be Andretti Road.
Mario himself led the Bullrunners for well paced lap as the NASCAR fans cheered.
Finish: Hilton Toronto, Toronto, Canada - The sun finally broke as Bullrunners finished their lunch, a few got an early start towards Toronto. Hayden’s Ferrari broke down and had to be flatbedded to Ferrari of Toronto. There were many ways to get to TO, but the cars who went through Niagra Falls experienced landmark #1 of this true Coast-To-Coast Classic.
Day 2: Start: Hilton Toronto - Toronto, Canada
The pace was quick from the start. The Bullrun was launched from the Hilton’s underground parking garage to not alert authorities to our presense. In true Omar Sharif fashion, he ripped a killer donut right in the middle of a busy intersection as two Lamborghini Gallardos swerved past.
Activity: Windsor Casino - West Windsor, Canada
Lunch was served inside the Windsor Casino, but Bullrunners ate quick due to the fact that thousands of locals from Windsor and Detroit turned out to get a glimpse of the Bullrun. Boy, do these folks love cars. Landmark #2 - General Motors’ headquarters towered over the festivities across the river. If GM officials were on hand they were very proud of the many Corvettes we had in the rally this year.
Finish: House of Blues Hotel - Chicago, Illinois
The West Windsor Police escort across the border meant the Bullrun Rally wasn’t slowed down at US Customs, but Michigan proved to be more than some Bullrunners could handle. Ask Rory Camangian and Emil Rensing of Team Los Matadors about their 2 hour roadside police interrogation that included 8 police cars and a front to back search of their Lamborghini. For the Bullrunners that made it into Chicago before sundown, they were treated to a heros welcome by thousands lined up on over passes into Chicago. Chicago’s Miracle Mile never sounded better with the sounds of sweet engines.
Day 3: Start: Lake Forest Sports Cars - Lake Bluff, Illinois
Bullrun cars got checked, fluids topped off, and tires filled as the Bullrunners were treated to another hilarious Cuban Brothers song and dance sequence. The start was quick and it was a great day for driving, next stop was landmark #3 and #4. The St. Louis Arch and some cold beer.
Activity: Anheuser Busch Brewery - St. Louis, Missouri
The activity called for a full tour of the brewery in order to obtain the route card to the next destination. A.B. tour guides undoubtedly had one of their best days at work as many Bullrunners forked over cash to get to through the brewery tour as quick as possible. According to onlookers, one tour guide recieved over $600 dollars to not only walk very fast, but to talk very fast before handing over the route card.
Finish: Hotel Intercontinental - Kansas City, Missouri
At least 10 teams made it through the tour in record time including Team Riecke, Richard Rawlings, and Team Texas, but a race was brewing between Team Forest Park Pictures, Team Gotham Dream Cars, and Team Los Matadors. The fact that police were few and far between from St. Louis to Kansas City made for an interesting afternoon for a Porsche 996, Ford GT, and a Lamboghini Gallardo SE. Forest Parks 996 led by a large margin the whole way but the hard charging GT and Bull closed the gap. Team Gotham never gave an inch despite The Matadors blowing through traffic lights to gain an advantage just before the finish. Team Forest Park were shocked to see Los Matadors and Gotham after arriving just 30 seconds earlier. A foot race to the finish gave Emil of Matadors a razor sharp win over Noah of Gotham. Thank God The Matadors weren’t racing the Spyker car. Emil would have !@#$ after realizing he’d have to foot race Carl Lewis to the check-in table. Who would have thought, Kansas City provided a killer evening party as many beautiful local college women turned up on a Monday night to drink it up and dance the night away. Reports of a truly wild night that included some topless coeds climbing into Bullrun cars. Enough said about that - get the DVD.
Day 4: Start: Hotel Intercontinental - Kansas City, Missouri
The morning was hectic as a minor traffic incident slowed things a bit, but things were about to get even slower. Just outside the Kansas border, a collective gulp was heard coming from every Bullrun vehicle. Kansas State Police were waiting at the toll plaza’s collecting everyones lisences who had a Bullrun sticker on their car. We were instructed to pull off on the left side of the road after paying the toll. The stop lasted about 20 minutes as a very seasoned, yet chipper Kansas State Trooper gave everyone a very stern warning. He alerted everyone that every state, county, and local police division was waiting for us. He wasn’t kidding. In true Bullrun fashion, speeds were back up over 100 mph in no time. Tickets were abundant. Virtually all of the front runners received tickets and Annabelle Frankl of Team Twins became the first girl to be arrested in Bullrun history by being clocked at over 120 mph. Nothing beats cold hard cash as Team Twins were back on their way after a brief visit to the joint.
Activity: SRCA Drag Strip - Great Bend, Kansas
Christian of Team Chris rocked the fasted quarter mile in his Porsche GT2, but the highlight of the day occured when Troy Hanson of Team Mosler lined up to race one of the fastest human beings of all time, Carl Lewis. It was reminiscent of the 2004 rally when a Lamborghini Murceilago was match up against a United States Air force F-16 fighter jet. We all knew who was going to win, but it was damn cool to see it lined up. Oddly enough Carl Lewis held his own on the starting line. For that brief moment in time, by the looks of him, you could actually believe he’d be faster in the 1st 20 feet. He looked fast. Carl was amazing on the rally. He was present the entire time and he was fast in the car as well.
Finish: Sonnenalp Hotel - Vail, Colorado
Another huge crowd showed up the greet the Bullrunners as a German Octoberfest band played the Bavarian hits. Claus Ettensberger’s Brabus Mercedes looked at home in Vail’s German setting as did Peter Kolb as he raced up in his GT3 RS. Herr Kolb is very passionate. I recommend to anyone that they should share a few Becks with him and then ask him why Porsche is a superior automobile. I do not recommend disagreeing with him after 5 beers.
Day 5: Start: Sonnenalp Hotel - Vail, Colorado
Landmark #5 was visible throughout the leg. If Bullrunners thought the drive into Vail was spectacular, the Rockies and all their beauty were on full display on the way out. The mountain passes proved to be an amazing backdrop to the 100 Bullrun cars as most of them managed to stay together for quite a while. Speeds were high, but news of Colorodo State Troopers not liking the Bullrun cars speeding after the 2005 rally rolled through last year kept thing to a dull roar. Next stop, Sin City.
Finish: Caesar’s Palace - Las Vegas Nevada
Bullrun’s Pool side party was another highlight as Bullrunners and party goers poured some stiff glasses of vodka on a warm night. Some Gambled and a huge contingent partied hard at Treasure Island’s Tangerine. The night turned into the morning for some, which meant beer muscles turned into Red Bull adreniline.
Day 6: Start: Carroll Shelby Museum and Las Vegas Speedway - Las Vegas, Nevada
Once again the rally was started outside the city, but Danny Coyle and Chuck Mallette pulled a nasty donut in their 900+BPH C6 Corvette right smack in the middle of Las Vegas BLVD.
Breakfast was served where legends are built, Shelby Automobiles. The smell of bacon turned into the smell of exhaust as new Shelby Cobras and Mustang GT 350 & 500’s were being tuned to be delivered to their lucky owners. After which some hot laps at Shelby’s test track were taken by all the cars in the Rally. Hayden, Los Matadors, Troy Hanson, and Ken Zuckerman stuck around after the pack left to turn some much faster laps. Rally organizer David Green actually got into the action by taking Hayden’s Ferrari 360 around for a blazing fast lap. He also managed to piss off Shelby Test Driver, Gary Patterson by passing numerous times in the no passing zone. One of 2006’s classic quotes was then uttered by Gary, “Holy !@#$!, what’s going on here, even the organizers of this rally break the rules”. Ken Zuckerman experienced his first and only bout with car trouble after spinning into the gravel section in his RUF. After the car was flatbedded back to Shelby, they found no mechanical damage. In a surprising turn of events, Ken called Alois Ruf himself in Germany and told him the situation. By some miraculous over the phone mojo from Mr. Ruf, the Shelby mechanics got the car started. This had to have been an automotive first, Alois Ruf on the phone with Shelby’s head mechanic and managing to get Ken’s RUF started.
Activity: London Bridge - Lake Havasu City Arizona
This drive consisted of landmark #6, The Hoover Dam and landmark #7, London Bringe. It’s kind of obvious to say, but it was hot in the desert. Temps were in and around 120 degrees in Arizona and California. Just over the London Bridge we ate at a dive called the Sand Bar. They serve one of the best burgers I’ve ever had on my entire life. Can’t explain it, just go there.
Finish: Santa Fe Station, San Diego California
A great finishing point after a very long day of drivng. The end was coming near, which caused everyone to get out and party and the Patron Train got things started. But the one thing I cannot get over is the fact that 2 AM is last call at all the bars in California. It’s downright un-American. Not only are they leaving money on the table, but how can California find the logic in taking booze away from a party that was just getting started. Things also got a little weird when the Hotel bouncers started getting rude. One of the Matadors resorted to getting into one of the bouncers face as he told him to “relax” and to “shut the !@#$ up”. In true Bullrun fashion, improvisation saved the day as the party moved to a San Diego strip club that served booze a bit later.
Day 7: Start: W Hotel - San Diego, California
The start in San Diego was unlike other big city starts. It actually started in Downtown. Danny Coyle and Chuck Mallete got things started with a rippin’ burnout and donut right smack in the middle of the traffic filled intersection. Only to be followed up by another equally impressive tire roaster from Omar Sharif in his Corvette. California Highway Patrol Helecopters and strict street racing laws kept things reasonable to the California Motor Speedway, but Team Darkcyd, car number 5 driven by Jason Garber and his team ducked into cover after the said CHP helecopter tailed them for miles. They managed to evade by pulling the Bullrun Logo stickers off the vehicle. Imagine if O.J. ahd the ability to do that?
Activity: California Motor Speedway - Fontana, CA
Hot laps were turned again on the road course. This time everyone stayed around for some speed. Rules were broken once again as Emil Rensing of Los Matadors passed nermerous cars in the Gallardo before getting warning flags. Here marked the end of the road. The final leg of the 2006 Bullrun.
Finish: Beverly Hilton - Beverly Hills California
If one were to walk into the parking area of the Beverly Hilton, you would see a tremendous amount of rubber laid. That’s exactly what happened. No rear wheel car left that lot with any tread on their tires. It was an old fashioned hoe down but this time it was spinnig cars and lots of Miller Lite provided by the ultimate Gas Monkey, Richard Rawlings. Bullrunners partied into the night well after the awards dinner. Sleep, sleep, and more sleep was had by many a bullrunner the next day and week.
The infamous “Bullrun Hangover” cannot be cured fast by any means. Sleep doesn’t even help, just time. Then comes the need and the thought of Bullrun 2007. Torturous...

HEHE. It's absolutely considered a landmark cuz of its size. One of the greatest dam ever built.
