yeah, actually, there's a guy I know who runs both on his Mustang V6.
Great thing about it is you can frag the engine as much as you want in experiments - you can pick another one up for 4-500, or even free from all the swaps . . .
He was running 800+ at the wheels but after blowing it up 2-3 times he switched to SC+N2O
"There were no cops, no trees, no humans of any kind so we decided to wring out the little Ford. For 47 minutes straight the Fusion was pinned at 111 mph with the A/C on getting 25mpg. John, Gabe and I all sat there astonished. We made one fuel stop, saw no other Bullrunners and came in... are you ready... 6th place for the day! IN A RENTED FORD FUSION!! CAN I GET A BOOYA!!!
Ford people, if you are reading this contact me immediately because I don't think you know how good this little car is. Seriously, we should talk about perhaps producing some Ford Fusion "MR. ANGRY" editions. I LOVE THIS CAR!"
Actually, I don't have the lag that you guys are talking about. I guess I am lucky, but we both have driven her, and at higher speeds as well, and there has not been the lag that I keep hearing about all over the place.
Turbo, the are more efficent and have less paresitic HP lose % vs gain. And as for lag BB Turbos spool very quick and if you do still experience lag, your probably pushing far more boost then achievable form most superchargers.

The little red headed girl
Get bigger turbos. I have lag on my car and I only have a 16g on there. Full boost hits around 3k RPM.

If it's a moderate sized turbo, fitted for the engine, you really won't have any lag.
My 3000GT VR-4's and Stealth R/T TT's come with very small twin turbos (9b's if anyone cares). They spool nearly instantly as well. But, once you start upgrading to larger turbos (13g's or 15g's in my case) you will start getting more "lag"... because it takes more pressure to spin the turbos, so, it kicks in higher in the rpm's, giving you that lull of n/a power, and a PUNCH of turbo power once it's fully spooled up.
It's fun as hell to feel that surge, but, frustrating waiting for it to kick in. LOL Bigger isn't ALWAYS better :)
My Audi was built with the right size turbos for her engine, so I am a happy woman. I have a lot to learn about the new cars, I work mainly on the old stuff. Dad was a mud bogger, and those tires are nearly as big as me, but in a pinch, I had the smallest hands to pull mud out of carburators, and loved it. Being pit was the best. However, thanks to my meds, my memory is just getting it's strength back, so I have a LOT of reading to do, to learn about the new stuff. I am eager to learn, so that is a good thing.
And grlytt, you are right, bigger is not always better!!!! giggles
I love turbos I owened 3 turbo cars in the past I've also had a super charged mustang I enjoyed the s/c just because its consestant ( again I can't spell) and it cost less than a turbo
I'm thinking a Schweitzer (s) 300 variant.. Probably in the 62/71/14 range (sorry, us diesel guys don't do the A/R ratio when talking turbos.. So I don't know what the A/R translates to..) I'm thinking it would look good sitting over the top of a K31 or S400 variant.. But I would probably keep the bottom turbo specs a little more secretive. ;)
Should be good for a reliable 65psi, while making the turbos do about half the work they normally would. Get the quick spool of a small turbo (s300), and the flow of a big turbo (k31, s400) without having to deal with turbo lag!
I’m currently running a Holset HX 35/40 hybrid, 60mm compressor and 14mm exhaust. It is good for about 40psi.. It would probably make a decent top turbo, but then I would have to deal with external waste gates to keep it from over speeding… Not that it is a bad thing, but it is just a little more complicated.. especially when most of the internal gates on the s300 variants can handle the drive pressures well enough on their own. Choices choices..
If would LOVE to see a reliable super charger for our trucks. Instant boost on a diesel would be fantastic! The biggest issue that I can see is the amount of boost they are able to run. My current turbo lights at about 1800 rpm, but I’m at redline by 3400. So I need a super charger that can do about 50-60psi boost, but reaches it by +/-2000 rpm. Tall order!
In the mean time, just consider this another vote for turbos!
Turbo...way more tunable, limitless possibilities, and I do love the sound of it Spooling...but I do love a SC and the whine on them are such an amazing sound too...
Supercharger for me... I love the way it sounds, the way it drives, and the performance is plenty good enough for what I do with it. It's the whole reason I bought this car: factory blowers FTW. There's a reason BMW's and Mercedes come with blowers from the factory...
I have had both, there is pluses and minuses to both. A Sc is instant on, a turbo has no parisitic drag, A sc costs hp, a turbo has lag......however, if you look at things cost wise, a good sc (like a vortech) is cheaper than a good turbo set up (hellion twin turbo) So I will stick with the Sc.....oh and by the way Procharger sucks.....damn bearings were shot with in 6 months, and yes I changed the oil in it and used the procharger !@#$......Vortech s trim v2 ftw

Blower. Easier to deal with and less to go wrong. Quicker power, and more reliable. Does not mean I would say no to a TURBO though.

Actually, the bigger the turbo the more you feel the lag, which is why they use twin turbos when OEM's go for a lot of boost.
Shock to the drivetrain tends to generate a lot of owner dissatisfaction.
You can totally feel the lag in a WRX, I had one of those for two days. Catch it off boost, and it feels like an Impreza.

TWIN Turbo.
More accurately a compound turbo system.

The new vw's have TWIN charger set ups.
i plan to put a twin charger set on a VW 2.0 16v
It will have a G-Ladder supercharger to run from idle to 3000. 9psi.
and then have a boost bypass for the turbo T3/T4 60 trim should kick in @ about 2800 @ 18 psi.
i still have to work out the plumbing and the fuel managment. but it will be sick.
BTW i dont even have a car to put it in yet.
but to answer the original question. TURBO. is funner.
